St Michaels Ciaran Lynch is under pressure from Dunderry's Evan Stephens during the Meath IFC game at Kilskyre.
Dunderry 2-9
St Michael's 0-9

Dunderry fired themselves back into contention for the IFC on Saturday evening in Kilskyre as they overcame a plucky St Michaels side.

The team in black & white welcomed back half back Aaron Newman after a year out injured and also gave debuts to minors Paddy Kennelly and Steven Coogan, and all three contributed to a fine team performance and a vital win

The game got off to a slow start with both teams cancelling each other out and after 24 minutes the sides were level 0-3 apiece. Dunderry's first goal came on the 25th minute when Steven Coogan rounded his man well & hammered it to the back of the net to finish off a fine team move.

St Michaels responded well with two pointed frees from Daithi Regan but Dunderry eased further in front with their second goal from midfielder Damien Clarke on the 31st minute of the half and with a further point from the impressive Ivan McCormack, Dunderry went into the break ahead 2-4 to 0-5. Ciaran Lynch was St Michael's other scorer.

Both teams had to win this game to stay in contention in this group and it was St.Michaels who started the second half the better to eat into Dunderrys lead. They did so with two points from former county star Dathi Regan and were back into contention after 39 minutes albeit trailing 2-4 to 0-7.

Dunderry know knew they were in a fight and responded well with three outstanding points from Ivan McCormack ad with a further two points from Steven Coogan they eased to victory with a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-9, despite a late sending off for Evan Stevens for a second bookable offence.

Ben Farrell and Phelim O'Reilly completed the St. Michaels scoring with a point each.
