St. Michaels reached the final of the Meath ladies Intermediate championship after a hard earned but entertaining match played in Carnaross on Saturday evening last.
St. Michaels made the better start and were 4 points up through points from Aisleen Regan 0-2, Fiona Nevin and Elisha Curtis 0-1 each before Moylagh registered their first point after 11 minutes of play. Leanne Lynch, Aisleen Regan 0-1 each and a well taken goal from Elisha Curtis finished the first half scoring for the winners, but Moylagh finished the first half on a high leading 2-5 to 1-6 after converting two penalties the last coming on the stroke of half time.
Moylagh extended their lead by a further 2 points immediately after the re-start but 1-2 in succession from Aisleen Regan steadied the ship for St. Michaels and with Mary Clinton putting in a man of the match performance at full back Moylagh were held scoreless for 15 minutes of the second half in which time St. Michaels added 2 goals from Aine Fagan and Therese O'Brien which was quickly followed by a point from Therese's daughter Megan. Substitute Niamh McCormack goaled on 60 minutes after good outfield work from her sister Sinead and Aisleen Regan. St. Michaels will now play Duleek / Bellewstown in the final.
