U15: Kavanagh cousins lead the way

August 30, 2010

St Cuthbert's Glen Kavanagh gains possession
St Cuthbert's 2-13
Inny Gaels 3-2

St Cuthberts claimed their first brace of points in this Meath U-15 Division 6 game played in Martry on Sunday evening.

The home side were reduced to 12 players 10 minutes before half-time and trailed 0-04 to 2-1 at the interval. However, inspired by Ronan Costello, Glen Kavanagh, his cousin Darren, David Rispin and Paidin Boggins the Bohermeen side fought back to claim victory.
Substitute Ryan Tevlin made an immediate impact with a goal 4 minutes into the second period to gain parity and although Inny Gaels scored 1-01 to regain their advantage, they failed to score again as the 12 man team struck nine points on the trot to run out victorious. They had the luxury of a missed penalty before another sub, Conor Rennicks topped off a memorable performance with a fine goal to give the home side a very flattering but deserved win.

The Kavanagh cousins accounted for 8 points between them with Glen scoring 5 and Darren notching 3. Cormac Farrell was strong through-out at the back, while goalkeeper Cian Farnan's kick outs were 'Stephen Cluxton like' in accuracy and distance.

St Cuthberts - Cian Farnan, Ronan Costello, Luke O'Reilly, Conor Whelan, Sean Power, Cormac Farrell, Glen Kavanagh (0-05), Paidin Boggins, Darren Kavanagh (0-03), Sean Lawlor, David Rispin (0-03), Dylan Coyne (0-01), Cathal Ryan. Subs - Ryan Tevlin (1-0), Sean Condren (0-1) Conor Rennicks (1-0).
