St Mary's dream of championship glory came to a cruel end in sunny Syddan after a titanic battle with Moynalty ended in defeat after extra time.

Moynalty started off with a bang and had the ball in the back of the St Mary's net after 40 seconds but St Mary's responded with two wonderful long range points from Stephen Madden and Stephen Bishop. Both sides exchanges points on the run in to half time with the score board reading 1-07 to 0-05 to Tommy Dowd's Moynalty.

St Mary's came out in the second half a complete different team and pulled backed the five point margin with points from Eoin Morison, Eoin Craven and Stephen Madden. With five minutes remaining Stephen Madden kicked St Mary's in to the lead for the first time in the game, but Moynalty responded with two points with time up. Deep into injury time Leon Madden found himself one on one with the Moynalty goal keeper and Madden fisted over the bar to send the tie into extra time.

Moynalty again caught St Mary's out with a goal early in the first half of extra time to build up four point lead but St Mary's battled back with some brilliant place kicking from Stephen Madden to leave two points between the sides with two minutes remaining when St Mary's had the last big chance of the game with a one on one with the Moynalty keeper only for the shot to go wide and Moynalty hung on to victory.
