JFC B: Mary's into semi's as Seneschalstown beaten

St Mary's defeated Seneschalstown by three points in a tight match in the quarter final of the Junior B Championship on Sunday afternoon in a sunny Slane.

Both sides got off to a great start with the score level after 15 minutes at 0-3 each with Simon Neary, Robbie Callaghan and Leon Madden doing the scoring for St Mary's. Seneschalstown had a goal chance leading up to half time but after a goal mouth scramble the ball went out over the end line for a '45 in which former St. Mary's player Peter Watters converted to give
Seneschalstown a one point lead at half time, 0-05 to 0-04.

St Mary's levelled the scores early in the second half with a point from Steven Madden but the game remained scoreless for a long period of the second half with both sides guilty of kicking bad wides. However, on 52 minutes Robbie Callaghan scored a long range pointed free to push St Mary's into the lead and this proved to be a decisive score as Steven Madden and sub Cormac Drew added points to sealed victory for St. Mary's in this local derby quarter final fixture.

Best for the winners were Joey Moore, David Gogarty, Brian Lynch, David Smith and Robbie Callaghan.
