MFL: Dunshaughlin impress against D/A
July 01, 2009

Dunshaughlin's Alan O'Brien
Dunshaughlin 2-14
Donaghmore/Ashbourne 0-10
Dunshaughlin Minors togged out for their first Minor league game since becoming Meath Minor Champions last April, at home on Monday night against Donaghmore/Ashbourne.
Almost two months since playing the same opposition on that memorable night and with all exams out of the way it was back to business for the Minors.
Dunshaughlin started slow and Donaghmore/Ashbourne showed that they wanted to make up for their final defeat and quickly put two points on the board. This woke the lads up and they settled into the match and started to string the passes together. Then points by Eoin Hagarty, Eamon Bowe and two by Niall "Butch" Clusker put Dunshaughlin into a 4-point to 2-point lead. Donaghmore/Ashbourne then brought the game back to the bare minimum before some good passing and movement led to a finely finished Emmet Staunton goal. Butch then followed the goal with another point. It looked like Dunshaughlin had taken control of the game, but one or two incidents before half time lead to Dunshaughlin losing concentration and allowed Donaghmore/Ashbourne to add two points on before half-time, with the half-time score of Dunshaughlin 1-05 to Donaghmore/Ashbourne's 0-05.
Dunshaughlin came out in the second half and put four points straight on the board with the scores coming from Emmet Staunton, Eamon Bowe and two from Alan O'Brien. Then Donaghmore/Ashbourne again took Dunshaughlin out of their stride scoring a number of points to bring them right back into the game. But as soon as Dunshaughlin remembered how to play their game they took total control of the game with Emmet Staunton, James Rattigan, Conor Devereux, Niall Murphy all adding further points along with Michael McCarthy's goal and a point.
Donaghmore/Ashbourne scored a late consolation point to leave the score line Dunshaughlin 2-14 to Donaghmore/Ashbourne 0-10.
With Niall Clusker, Brian Woods, Conor Smith, Keith Doherty and Alistair Doyle all playing well and a good team performance in patches of both halves it was a satisfactory performance from all the lads. The team would also like to wish Brian Woods all the best on his travels to Ethiopia.
Scorers: Eoin Hagarty (0-1), Eamon Bowe (0-2), Niall "Butch" Clusker (0-3) Emmet Staunton (1-2), Alan O'Brien (0-2), James Rattigan (0-1) Conor Devereux (0-1) Niall Murphy (0-1) Michael McCarthy (1-1)
