St. Michaels 2-10 Carnaross 2-10 A League (Division 2) Played in Carlanstown 30/6/2009 Carnaross were denied what would have been a well deserved victory when a late penalty from St. Michaels ensured the north Meath neighbours would share the points in a highly entertaining encounter. St. Michaels hit the front first with a point from play before Carnaross hit back with two points from John L McGee and Niall McDonnell.  The home side then enjoyed their best period of the game and they hit 1-2 without reply to take a four point lead.  Carnaross reduced the lead when Paddy Nugent pounced on a loose ball in the area to finish to the net.  St. Michaels responded with two converted frees.  Niall McDonnell punched a point for Carnaross and St. Michaels finished the first-half scoring with a point from play to leave them 1-6 to 1-3 ahead. John L McGee opened the scoring after the break with a free kick before St. Michaels cancelled it out soon afterwards.  Carnaross were then on level terms when Ollie Murphy expertly finished to the net.  The game was now a very tight encounter and both sides went on to score three points each with John L McGee, Niall McDonnell and Ollie Murphy hitting the target for Carnaross.  Going into the closing stages of the game Carnaross were beginning to dominate proceedings winning a lot of possession and when John L McGee, Paddy Nugent and Dermot McGee added on three more points it seemed they had done enough.  However the home side were awarded a penalty at the death which was converted to leave the sides level.
