June 28, 2009

Duleek/Bellewstown's Des Teelan gets in his pass as Dunshaughlin's David Crimmins closes in
Duleek/Bellewstown 2-08
Castletwon 1-09
Duleek/Bellewstown scraped through the opening round of this Feis cup encounter and have super sub Des Teeling to thank as he blasted to the net with just minutes left on the clock to secure a victory.
Up until this point the East Meath men struggled throughout and where two points down at the closing stages before Teeling got the all important score.
Corner forward Stephen Nolan got the opening score as he fired over from close range. Duleek/Bellewstown failed to get on the score board until the mid way point of the opening interval when Chris Carney rattled the back of the Castletown net with an excellent left footed strike.
Further points from Conal Mc Ginely, a well converted free from Chris Carney and points from Nolan and full forward man Michael Dowling left it 1-05 a piece at half time.
Again Nolan was quickest off the mark in the opening of the second half when he fisted over from close range.
Mark Collins stepped up to the mark and fired over a fine effort and it was sub Des Teeling who grabbed the all important goal to put the travelling side a head by one point at the closing stages.
Paul Martin stepped up and fired over a point in injury time to secure a second place slot for the East Meath men but this was by no means a pretty affair and Duleek/Bellewstown really had to put in some hard work if they wish to progress in this competition.
Casey Dunne and Joey Martin did well for Duleek/Bellewstown.
