Wolfe Tones Report

Na Fianna 2-12 Wolfe Tones 0-12

Visitors Wolfe Tones looked comfortable after 20 minutes as they held a 0  06 to 0 01 lead and were in control in most sectors, their early scores coming from Cian Ward (2), Thomas O Reilly (2) and 1 point each from Apnghus Mc Loughlin and Conor Sheppard. Indeed they could have been further ahead as by that stage they had registered 7 wides. However an injury to Eoghan Harrington who was forced to leave the game allied to a fortuitous goal from long distance brought Na Fianna right back in to it. In total the home side scored 2  03 in the last six minutes of the half to hold a half time lead of 2  04 to 0  07, a lead which seemed unlikely for most of the first half. The second goal followed a double save from the Tones keeper David Nolan.

A Caolán Ward point in the 31st minute narrowed the gap, but full forward Daniel Queeney hit a purple patch for Na Fianna and notched 5 points to leave Na Fianna with a commanding lead of 2  10 to 0  08.Wolfe Tones courtesy of Thomas O Reilly (3) and Daniel O Neill (1) worked hard to close the gap and managed to reduce the gap to 5 points but 6 wides during this period hampered their comeback. Na Fianna added a further point in the closing minutes during which David Nolan in the Tones goal made a fine save.

Wolfe Tones: David Nolan, Niall O Reilly, Daniel O Neill (0 01), Stephen Sheppard, Aonghus Mc Loughlin (0  01), Eoghan Harrington, Éanna Harrington, Stephen Corrigan, Alan Callaghan, Padraic Diamond, Niall Mc Loughlin, Conor Sheppard (0  01), Thomas O Reilly (0  05), Saran O Fionnagáin, Cian Ward (0  03). Sub Caolán Ward (0  01)
