St. Michaels 0-11, Dunboyne 5-15
There was a goal storm in Carlanstown on Sunday evening in round 2 of the Divinity Tiles & Bathrooms ladies IFC with Dunboyne hitting St. Michael's for five to make them prime contenders for this years championship.
St. Michaels were unfortunate to have two of their key players Hayley Doyle and Patricia Owens sin binned by referee Paul Mooney within 4 minutes of each other either side of half time which resulted in the home sides heads dropping and they could only manage to provide token opposition for the remainder of the match.
Mary Clinton got her side off to a good start with the opening point after 20 seconds, Vicky Wall replied for the visitors before Sinéad McCormack put her side back in front on three minutes. Points from Marion Farrelly and Megan O'Brien put three between the sides before Dunboyne pulled one back on 10 minutes. The visitors went in front for the first time following their opening goal two minutes later and fifteen minutes later they had built up a commanding 4-7 to 0-7 lead. McCormack, O'Brien and Clinton completed the first half scoring for St. Michaels.
Dunboyne opened the second half with two quick fire points and although the 13 St. Michaels players played their hearts out they were no match for a now rampant Dunboyne side who surged forward picking off their scores at their ease. St. Michaels could only respond with points from Marion Farrelly (0-2), Seona Lynch and Mary Clinton (0-1 each). Next up for St. Michaels are Blackhall Gaels in Carlanstown on Wednesday July 5th.
