Kilbride's Zack McGovern

Simonstown Gaels 2-10, Kilbride 3-18

Kilbride were in clinical form from the off in this semi final at the Simonstown venue on Friday evening.  Kilbride started well taking a 1-3 to 0-3 points lead after 10 mins. The goal coming from the penalty spot by Adam Malone after a fabulous run from deep in the defence by Brian Dignam who was foiled by a trip as he was about to pull the trigger  to the net. Both teams traded points after this but Kilbride were operating well and tagged on a further 7 point before half time to lead by 1-10 to 0-5 at the break.

Excellent points from Ronan O'Leary, Jamie McWeeney, Finn Hughes and Zack McGovern were the pick of the first half scores.

The Kilbride lads started the 2nd half well adding 3 unanswered points before  the Gaels rallied to keep in touch with some excellent points of ther own. But Kilbride were not going to let there chance slip and pressed home their advantage with 2 goals from the unstoppable  Hughes and points from Jack Sweeney-Leahy, Malone and a potent McGovern.

With the Kilbride defence of  Duffy, McPeake, Dignam, Harford, Andrew McWeeney in goals and a hard working James Gavin in fine form they were always in control and finished off comfortable winners.
