Davitts GAA Club notes
July 21, 2008
The u-12 team lost their opening league match at home to a lively Shrule-Glencorrib side on Monday evening. The final scoreline was 3-17 to 4-2.
Hardest triers for Davitts were Cathal Hennelly, Padraig and Michael Mangan, Dylan Keadin, Christopher Ryan and Lorcan Diskin.
The u-16's travelled to Islandeady on Tuesday. Davitts were trailing 1-6 to 0-4 at half time, but two second half goals from Darren Connolly and James Prendergast gave Davitts a hard earned 2-10 to 2-8 victory. Others to shine for Davitts were Donnacha Geraghty and Tommy Heneghan in defence, Mark Ronayne and midfielders Tommy Waldron and the outstanding Josh Ronayne.
The minor team were defeated 2-10 to 0-10 in Ballindine on Friday evening, by a hungrier and more determined Swinford side. On the evening very few of the Davitts lads enhanced their reputations, with David Ryan, Kevin Gallagher, John Paul Clarke, Josh Ronayne and Mark Ronayne the notable exceptions.
