Hennelly lauds team mates' effort

July 17, 2008
Mayo minor hero Robert Hennelly praised his team mates after the Westerners after they overcame the challenge of Roscommon by three-points on Sunday at Castlebar. Hennelly saved Dara Lennon's penalty 12 minutes from time to ensure the end of a seven-year wait for a Connacht title in Mayo at the minor grade, but while the Breaffny was getting all the pats on the back after the game, in the end he paid tribute to the players in front of him as well as team manager Ray Dempsey. "It was great to save the penalty, but this was about the team," stressed Hennelly. "The lads played unreal. From the corner-back to the corner-forward everyone played out of their skin. We've prepared so hard for this, it's just a great feeling to have won it. "Ray (Dempsey) has done a great job and we owe so much to him. It's all about the team. It's all about the whole group and we're really looking forward to seeing where we can go from here," added the Mayo net-minder. Hennelly will now be waiting anxiously to find out the outcome of this Sunday's ESB Ulster MFC final as the losers of that provincial decider in Clones will meet Mayo in the quarter-finals on the second weekend of August.
