Preview Ballintubber V Garrymore T.F. Royal Hotel & Theatre Senior Championship Section A Next Sunday July 20th at 1.30 in Clogher, Ballintubber and Garrymore will lock horns in the T.F. Royal Hotel & Theatre Senior Football Club Championship. Both teams need a win in this decider to keep their championship hopes alive and qualify for the county quarterfinals. Garrymore have had a mixed run in the Championship, losing to Charlestown and drawing with Moy Davitts. They need a win and will also hope that Charlestown overcome Moy Davitts to keep themselves in the reckoning. Ballintubber will be just as eager to take the spoils and will be striving to continue their current championship winning form. Last time out they overcame Moy Davitts in Foxford and produced some fine spells of football, especially in the first half. The defeat to Charlestown earlier in the campaign was perhaps a yardstick for the Abbeysiders and it may have shown this young team that they had more to do. Garrymore will be anticipating that inspirational forwards, Varley and Killeen will trouble the Ballintubber rearguard and yield the vital scores. Ballintubber will be hoping that their county star Alan Dillon has remained injury free after the Connaught Final against Galway in which the All Star played an outstanding game for Mayo. Not much separates these two teams so Sunday's game may well prove to be a close, nail-biting encounter. Their last outing in late March in the league ended in a draw after a last ditch goal from Killeen levelled matters in the final minute of the game. That goal resulted from a lapse in concentration from the Ballintubber backs, which saw Killen rattle the back of the net from a free. On the day Ballintubber failed to capitalise on an early lead although Garrymore showed great character in coming back and taking a point from the game. That game proved that very little lies between the teams so Sunday's outcome is too close to call. Ballintubber Managers, James Horan and Tony Duffy will be hoping that their young charges will have enough to pull off a victory and the more seasoned Garrymore Senior team will be very keen to get back to winning ways. With many pundits sitting on the fence for this one, it promises to be an enthralling match. Mayo Minors Congrats to Ray Geraghty and Dean Gavin who played a major part in the Mayo Minor teams success in regaining the Connacht Minor title after overcoming Roscommon on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-7 ! Ray scored 2 points from play and Dean influenced matters as soon as he was introduced. The club wishes both players and the whole team the best of luck in the rest of the Championship. Fixtures T.F.
