O'Hara looking towards ultimate success

July 10, 2008
Mayo Ladies captain Claire O'Hara may have had to watch from the stands at McHale Park as her team mates romped to the Connacht title against Sligo last Sunday, but she has stressed that nothing but an All-Ireland title will do this year for the Westerners. O'Hara was suffering from a torn hamstring for her side's provincial decider with the Yeats County, but having watched her side ease to victory admits that the work put in so far this year by all involved with the squad paid off. "I think once the Championship comes you can either dwell in the past or knuckle down and get on with it. Nobody wants to be training three times a week and losing Championship games. "Every management teams is going to take time to settle in too. Martin (Connolly) and Paul (Jordan) bring great experience and they're working well with Michael (Ryder). Everything has really fallen into place and it's important that we go on from here now." As she looks to return to fitness in the coming weeks, the Ladies skipper will be hoping her side can shock a few and bring an All-Ireland title back to Mayo. "I would be saying anything less than an All-Ireland is a disappointment, stressed O'Hara. "It was great to win a Connacht title, a wonderful achievement considering what happened earlier in the year but we won't be sitting back on our laurels now."
