Ryder eager ahead of Sligo test
July 04, 2008
Mayo Ladies manager Michael Ryder has expressed a hint of regret over the fact that his side have received a bye straight into this Sunday's Connacht SFC final against Sligo.
The Galway native admits that a Championship game would have benefited the Westerners ahead of the decider, but maintains nonetheless that his side are still eager for a result against the Yeats' County.
"There's a difference between challenge games and the Championship. It'd be nice if we had got a Championship game just to see how we're going. We're out to give a good performance. We've trained well for the last number of weeks, and the girls are eager for the game."
The latest addition to Mayo's management ahead of Sunday's encounter is Burrishoole's men manager Martin Connolly. Over the coming days, Connolly will side by side with Ryder and team trainer Paul Jordan as they seek the year's first piece of silverware.
Mayo take on Sligo this Sunday, July 6, in the Connacht Ladies SFC final with a throw-in time scheduled for 3.00pm at McHale Park, Castlebar.
