Mayo manager Stephen Rochford has thrown down the gauntlet to his players by urging them to stand up and be counted in the qualifiers.

The Connacht side will enter the back door draw this Monday morning for the first time in six years.

This will be a new experience for some of their players following their provincial semi-final defeat to Galway last Saturday.

Now Rochford has the task of lifting the players for the quest ahead and he has started by telling them to move on.

"We're not going to start feeling sorry for ourselves, Rochford told the Mayo News. He added: "We were second best, but we've got a game in two or three weeks' time and that gives us an opportunity to make up for it."
