Joint-manager Declan Shaw was setting his sights on the Andy Merrigan Cup after Castlebar Mitchels captured their second Connacht club SFc title in three seasons at Tuam Stadium.

Inspired by Mayo midfielder Barry Moran, the Mayo kingpins ended Corofin's reign as provincial and All-Ireland champions with a commanding display.

"We have a thing in the club where we tell each other we'll find a way to win no matter what. We'll always look to find a way whether that's adapting to some tactic on the pitch of just having to dig deeper, they'll do it," Shaw told the Western People.

"They never give up, they'll keep going to the very end, no matter what and that's the spirit that makes them special and they sure are special!

"Nobody can call us one-hit wonders now. We've won two Connacht titles in three years and that puts us up with the best in the province, but that's where we want to be and that's where we strive to be.

"Hopefully we can go on and win the All-Ireland now because that's our ultimate goal. You get your time and when you have a bunch of lads good enough to win it, you have to go and do it and it's our time now, so we need to push on."
