Captain Rory Byrne says Castlebar Mitchels are primed to take on Corofin in Sunday week's Connacht club SFC final.

While insisting that the reigning All-Ireland champions are favourites to retain the Shane McGettigan Cup, Byrne reckons Castlebar have greater strength in depth now than two years ago when they beat Corofin en route to an unsuccessful All-Ireland final appearance against St. Vincent's.

"We find that our bench, the lads on it would make a lot of club teams anywhere," the goalkeeper told the Western People after yesterday's provincial semi-final win over Clann na nGael.

"That's a big strength of ours. They're really, really top players and to have them coming into the team is a massive advantage to us.

"We have been around for a while now, we were in this situation two years ago, so it's great to go into the final now with everyone thinking the same way and looking forward to the next two weeks."
