Manager Ciaran McElhatton praised his Tyrone players for keeping their composure in Saturday's All-Ireland MHC 'C' final replay at Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim.

It didn't look good for the Red Hands when they trailed by 0-3 to 1-8 at half-time, but helped by goals from John Campbell and Branan Molloy in the 41st and 47th minutes, they fought back to beat Mayo on a 2-12 to 1-10 scoreline.

"We knew we weren't that bad. We didn't perform in the first half, but we had a good word with the lads at half-time," McElhatton is quoted in the Irish News.

"There was no roaring or shouting, we were just calming them down, telling them to have a bit of belief, and they came out and did it in the second half.

"They showed tremendous character and spirit. We didn't get the start we were looking for, but we knew the lads had the heart and determination."
