Mayo's Barry Moran is determined to nail down a starting position for the long term.

Moran admits that his inter-county career has been a bit stop start over the last few years, but he stressed to the Western People that he was working as hard as he could to feature against Galway in the Connacht SFC on Sunday.

"If you look at it over the last couple of years, I'm starting one year, then down on the bench coming in for impact and then starting the next again," said Moran.

"But all you can keep doing is working hard and hope that when you get your chance, you take it. If you get a good run of games and put in good performances in them, your confidence is going to build.

"But, you can't be reading too much into that, you just have to get ready for the opportunity, to make sure you take it and nail down that number eight jersey."
