Pearce Hanley celebrates for Brisbane Lions

Pearce Hanley has laughed off his tough-talking Bribane Lions team-mate Tom Rockliff's threat to "smash" Ireland in Saturday week's International Rules Test.

The Mayo man, who is the only AFL player in the Ireland squad, is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Mirror: "'Rocky' has got to catch the Irish boys before he can bash them.

"Even if he manages to catch us, we'll see how it goes. There will be nothing dirty between me and 'Rocky', but if we run into each other, I'm sure we won't hold back.

"We come across each other at training all the time and hit each other hard so it will be no different.

"It's the only chance we get to represent our countries. Unlike other sports, this is all we've got, so it definitely means something."
