Defending champions Charlestown were knocked out of the Mayo Senior Football Championship at the quarter-final stage last weekend.

Shrule-Glencorrib were the side who lowered the colours of the kingpins in a 2-12 to 3-7 victory.

Meanwhile, county star Alan Dillon proved the key as Ballintubber edged Ballina Stephenites by 0-9 to 1-5 to book their place in the senior semi-finals for the first time since 1977.

Following Charlestown's exit, Knockmore take over the mantle of warm favourites for the title after a 2-12 to 0-12 win over Crossmolina while Castlebar Mitchels edged out neighbours Breaffy by 0-11 to 0-9.

In the Intermediate grade, meanwhile, the semi-finalists were also decided, with favourites Burrishoole sauntering to a 16-point win over Cill Chomain (3-16 to 1-6), Kiltimagh edging out 14-man Davitts by 0-11 to 0-10, Tourmakeady having five points to spare over Ballyhaunis (1-9 to 0-7) and Belmullet proved too strong for Kilmaine.
