Mayo clear up Ronaldson confusion

March 06, 2010
Mark Ronaldson won't play for Mayo in tomorrow's NFL clash with Dublin, despite the fact he was named in John O'Mahony's starting line-up on Thursday night.

The in-form attacker was hit with a retrospective four-week ban folloiwng Mayo's victory over Tyrone three weeks ago, but the fact that he was still named in the side suggested that Mayo were preparing to appeal his case further.

However, Mayo secretary Sean Feeney confirmed to the Irish Independent that the team released on Thursday night was mistakenly the same one given to the programme on Tuesday night, 24 hours before Ronaldson failed with an appeal to the Central Hearing Committee.

The decision to play Ronaldson in the FBD final on February 21 while his appeal was pending means that his suspension now dates from that game and he will also miss the NFL match against Derry on March 14.
