New Ashbourne Hotel to cater for all

November 30, 2006
Louth builder John McCabe is currently in the process of developing a Four Star Hotel in Ashbourne that will offer customers a unique service, while GAA supporters in the Wee County can sample the relaxing atmosphere on their trips to Croke Park. There is an air of anticipation in Louth following the exploits of the county's footballers in 2006. In all three trophies were won, which is their biggest haul for some years, but more importantly two of these wins came in major competitions - the Division Two league title and the Tommy Murphy Cup. Louth supporters expect to move on from here and there is a general sense of belief that the Wee County should be considered genuine contenders for the Leinster title. However, consolidation in Division One will be their first aim and playing against the top teams in the country can only aid a side. Louth manager Eamonn McEneaney has worked wonders with the county and their supporters are following the team in their tens of thousands. The M1 and N2 were packed last summer when Louth travelled to Croke Park to face Meath in the Leinster championship and although they travelled home disappointed after they were defeated, spirits were still high and all concerned were optimistic that 2007 can bring further glory for the county. With success breeds confidence and that can be applied to business also as John McCabe Construction has proven over the years. The Louth Yearbook spoke to Contracts Manager Shane Menton about the construction of the Ashbourne Marriott Hotel and what the new facility has to offer the public. The current Development in Ashbourne sees the construction of a Four Star Hotel at the Rath, just off the N2 roundabout and Shane revealed that it is a hotel with a difference. "Although it will be a four star hotel, the premise will be just one step off a five star as we are going that extra bit further with the finishing touches," said Shane. "There will be that extra ambience at the Hotel that will make the place stand out from other four stars, while its location is also another plus." The 148-room upscale hotel will serve the nearby suburbs of Swords and Ratoath and is a convenient meeting point for travellers from Derry to Belfast including many GAA teams and supporters that might to stop along the way. Of the 148 rooms in the Ashbourne Marriott hotel, eighty-one are superior king-size, 47 superior double double; twelve deluxe, 4 junior suite and four suites. The new hotel is located in a constructed development which was built by McCabe Construction.
