Sean O'Mahony's Conor Crawley beats Darren O'Hanlon St Pats to the ball

SEAN O'MAHONYS 2-9
ST PATRICKS 1-8

Sean O'Mahonys booked their place in last eight of the Senior Championship and left holders St Patricks with a battle to stay in the competition after claiming victory at Dowdallshill on Sunday afternoon.

The four-point winning margin did little justice to the superiority of the Dundalk side as goals from Conor Crawley and Stephen Kilcoyne either side of the break had them cruising to victory for much of the second half. A late goal from a Karl White penalty proved little more than a consolation for the Pats.

The result means that the O'Mahonys face Geraldines in a mouth-watering quarter-final while St Pats face Kilkerley in the final Group 4 game for the right to play Dreadnots in the last eight.

The O'Mahonys got off to the better start and took the lead through a Stephen Kilcoyne point and although the Pats levelled through Daragh Lafferty, scores from Conor Finnegan and Kilcoyne had the Dundalk men 0-3 to 0-1 in front.

However, the Pats responded well and points from Lafferty (2) and Thomas McCann had the champions ahead for the first time.

The remainder of the half was tight as the O'Mahonys hit back to level but Conor Crawley flicked the ball past Sean McGeough for the first goal of the game to see his side lead by 1-5 to 0-5 at the break.

They pressed home their advantage after the break and added two further points from Crawley and Ben McLaughlin before Kilcoyne added a second goal to make it 2-7 to 0-5.

There was no way back for the Pats and they didn't add to their score until Ray Finnegan struck after 47 minutes, and the Seans held out comfortably despite White's late penalty.
