Colin Kelly is hoping Mick O'Dwyer's winning pedigree will rub off on his Louth players.

Kelly takes charge of his beloved Wee County in the Leinster SFC for the first time today against Westmeath and is in no doubt the players have benefited from the GAA's most successful manager's presence at training over the past number of weeks.

"He just brings an enthusiasm that is hard to explain really," the Newtown Blues clubman stated in the Dundalk Democrat.

"That's the big thing with him. He is just about the place, has a way of doing things that is maybe foreign to the up-to-date methods but in its way, it gets the job done.

"Micko is just a good fella to have about the place and brightens it up, so it's been good. He is getting to know the lads individually, he seems to be a big fan of Conor Grimes!

"Generally, it will take time, but if they are they are bouncing off him and his experience, then all the better."
