Championship draws made

February 26, 2010
The draws have been made for the 2010 Louth football and hurling championships.

There are twelve teams competing in both the SFC and IFC with 13 in the JFC.

In each section, the contestants are divided into four groups of three (there's one four-team group in the JFC), with the top two in each section progressing to the quarter-final stage.

Holders Mattock Rangers have been placed alongside familiar foes and predecessors Newtown Blues in Group A of the SFC, which is completed by last year's intermediate champions Naomh Malachi.

St Marys have been handed an equally thankless task as they are in Group B alongside peninsula giants St Patricks and Cooley Kickhams.

Group C looks fairly even with Naomh Mairtin, Kilkerley Emmets and St Brides all capable of progressing.

And Group D could be equally competitive, with Dreadnots, Dundalk Gaels and Glyde Rangers all able to produce big performances on the day.

The most intriguing group in the IFC is definitely the all-Dundalk section - Group C - which contains Clan na Gael, Sean O'Mahonys and Na Piarsaigh.

Perennial finalists Knockbridge and Pearse Of have been paired together in the first round of the SHC.
