NFL 3: Davey leaves it late for Sligo

February 14, 2010
Sligo 1-14
Louth 2-10

Sligo had a late point from wing-back Johnny Davey to thank for snatching their first win in Division Three this season against Louth yesterday at Markievicz Park.

Kevin Walsh's team looked to have no problems when they carried in a 1-9 to 0-6 lead at the break, with the goal coming after Adrian Marren dispossessed goalkeeper Neil Gallagher and fired to the net five minute from the short whistle.

Marren and Alan Costello then stretched the hosts' lead to eight early on in the restart, but between Marren's sending-off for an off-the-ball incident and Colm Judge netting a goal in the 51st minute Louth got themselves back into contention.

Full-forward JP Rooney then hit a quick 1-1, with the goal coming from a penalty, to send Louth into a surprise lead with the finish-line in sight, but an equaliser from Stephen Coen and an injury-time winner from Davey rescued the win for the Yeats men.
