Longford's first Leinster SFC win in four years brought a smile to Sean McCormack's face.
Sunday's defeat of Laois was McCormack's first win in a provincial championship match, and the ace attacker tells The Irish Daily Star:
"There is a belief there now. The people and supporters deserve it. 2007 is a long time ago and it's too long for the talent that we have here, especially winning the first round of the championship. It's surreal. Nothing compares to it.
"When you come through the back door, there is no real pressure on you, especially when you come up against a big team. You lose: you weren't expected to win. You win: it's great. But this was a real test for us.
"Some people were saying Laois are a Division One side and it's going to be a hard task, but we pulled it off. It means an awful lot.
"We had a belief that we were more than capable of winning this first-round game and now hopefully it's onwards and upwards."
