Longford manager Glenn Ryan admits that they are gearing towards the NFL clash against Offaly.

The midlanders face their neighbours in the opening round of the league next month and Ryan knows that his charges need to improve before the start of that campaign.

Last weekend, Longford were defeated by DCU in the O'Byrne Cup and they now have a few weeks to continue their preparations for the league.

"The focus has always been on the league," Ryan stressed to the Longford Leader. "That's not going to change. We have Offaly in the first game and that's where our focus is on.

"Some fellas are playing well, but we need to improve. We have a few areas that we need to work on. There is a lot of work to be done between now and the Offaly game." Tweet
