Patrickswell notes

March 29, 2007
Patrickswell under 14 hurlers brought home their first silverware of the year by beating Na Piarsaigh in the City Final of the Feile na nGeal. The game was played in ideal spring conditions in Mungret last Saturday. Patrickswell got off to a great start and a point from play by Andrew Carroll put them into an early lead. The Well got two more unanswered points, one from Jack Kelliher (free) and the other from Sean Conway before Kelvin Lynch, who had moved into full forward after aggravating an leg injury, struck the ball to the back of the Na Piarsaigh net. Fifteen minutes into the first half Patrickswell lead by 1-3 to 0-0.  At this stage Na Piarsaigh start to come more into the game and two points late in the first half saw them trail by only 4 points at half time. Na Piarsaigh continued to dominate play in the opening stages of the second half but a strong Patrickswell halfback line held them scoreless apart from one pointed free. Two more pointed frees from Jack Kelliher and a point from play by Kelvin Lynch in the second half was enough to see Patrickswell run out winners on a final score line of 1-6 to 0-3. The Patrickswell team was: Darragh Dundon, Cathal Bennis, Tom Kiely, James Carrig, John Long, Mark Carmody, Jordan Delee, Diarmuid Byrnes, Kelvin Lynch (1-1), Jack Kelliher (0-3), Kevin O'Brien, Andrew Carroll (0-1), Sean Conway (0-1),  David Woulfe, Cian Lynch.
