Munster JFC: Déise too good for Limerick

May 21, 2012
Waterford Junior footballers advance to the last four of the Munster JFC after a solid win over Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.

Waterford 2-13
Limerick 1-10

Played as a curtain raiser to the opening game of the Munster SFC also involving both counties, the John Kiely managed Waterford side led by six points before the half time whistle sounded - 2-4 to 0-4.

A goal each in the opening half from full forward Mitchell Casey and David Power in injury time proved to be the difference.

The hosts were given a glimmer of hope when substitute Mark O'Sullivan fired beyond 'keeper Paul Houlihan but with Paul and David Power to the fore that was as good as it got for Limerick.

Efforts from Derry O'Connor and Kieran O'Callaghan did reduce the margin to two points but the Déise finished with a flourish to book their place in the semi finals against Clare on the 9th of June.
