Horan happy to make amends

Limerick football manager Maurice Horan
Maurice Horan was pleased with Limerick's Munster SFC first round victory over Waterford at the Gaelic Grounds.

"We lost the first round of the Munster championship last year (to Kerry) so we're happy in that sense to have won this," the Mayo native said.

"I wouldn't be delighted with the first half, though. We were very rusty at times, some of our passing went astray and there a breakdown in communication as well. But at least we got organised at half-time. We swallowed up their attacks and started to settle whereas they got demoralised. Our subs came on and made an impression. The penalty was obviously a major turning point as well."

The Limerick manager insisted that his team will need to improve for their Munster SFC semi-final against Clare on June 9.

"We are happy enough. The likes of James O'Meara and Ian Corbett done well when they came on, it was the first round of the championship and a win is everything. We will look at the video to see what we must improve on."
