St. Patrick's G.A.A. Club Notes
May 16, 2012
On this Thursday evening our under 12 footballers travel out to Ballybricken to take on the home side in the county under 12 football league this game has a throw in time of 6.45pm. Last Thursday evening our under 12 hurlers were second best to Croagh in the county under 12 hurling league our players tried very hard but with most of our players who already played a quarter final game earlier in the day with their school were very tired for this county league game not taking the game away from Croagh who were very good but our young guns kept going until the final whistle this Friday evening our senior footballers will travel to Foynes to take on St. Senan's in the all county football league this game will be the first outing since our defeat from Fr. Casey's in the first round of the county championship so this game will be vital to the team to get back on track for our next championship outing against Adare. In the league we have played four games winning two against Adare and Monaleen and losing two to St. Kieran's and Fr.Casey's throw in for Friday/Saturday evening is at 7.30pm. Our junior hurlers will take on Old Christians at Rhebogue on this Saturday evening in the City junior A hurling league this year our junior hurlers are managed by Pa Mullins and his selectors this will be their second league game as in the first round we took on Mungret last Monday evening and Recorded a 0-22 to 1-11 victory our scorers on the night were Jason Mullins with 0-07 Patrick Mullins and Gearoid Hegarty with 0-03 Wayne Cronin, John Mullane, Andrew Hannigan and Padraig Reale with 0-02 each and Michael Geary with 0-01 we lined out as follows Brendan Mullins, Mark Kiely, David Geary, Mark Phelan, Christopher Reals, Wayne Cronin, Brian O Neill, John Mullane, Andrew Hannigan, Patrick Mullins, Michael Geary, Niall Phelan, Jason Mullins, Gearoid Hegarty and Padraig Reale subs used on the night were David Doyle, Barry O Doherty, Matt Faulkner other panel members were Gearoid Phelan, Shane Kerin, Michael Downey, Colm O Brien and Paddy Downes. On this Friday evening our under 10 hurlers will hold a blitz in Rhebogue with Patrickswell, St. Mary's Ballinacurra Gaels and Crecora all coming into Rhebogue for a 6.45pm start. Our under 12 Girls football team had to travel to Galtee Gaels pitch last Friday 4th May this time we took the bus as the price of petrol for travelling is gone through the roof. I must say this was a match we left behind us that we could have won once again we had to play against the wind and to no avail of any score at half time, but Galtee Gaels could only put one point on the board which our backs were having an outstanding battle from the amount of pressure the Galtee's kicked in. It just got bad to worse as Galtee Gaels started off with a quick move and got another point, even with the wind at our backs we had a few chances but they were left and wide. The wind was strong and the girls found it hard to judge their kicking again Galtee Gaels came back on the attack and our backs and goalie pulled off some great blocks and tackles. Galtee Gaels had control of this game and we were just doing catch up as they put the nail in the coffin with another two points. It ended up Galtee Gaels 4 points to St Pats no score we would like to thank the parents that came along to support the team. Last Sunday morning we did a community clean up in the Rhebogue area we meet at 9am and did the canal and Rhebogue main road I like to thank Paddy Quilligan, Eamonn Phelan Christopher Mortell and Jack Sheehan for getting up so early for the club in doing this great work for our area. All at the club would like to wish the Limerick Senior footballers the very best on this Sunday when they will take on Waterford at the Limerick Gaelic Grounds in the Munster football championship.
