St. Patrick's G.A.A. Club Notes

The Clubs Annual General Meeting took place last Monday evening 16th January at our Clubhouse. Mass for the deceased members and friends who we lost during the year took place before the A.G.M. and the Club extend our sincere sympathy to the families of Willie Cusack, Rose Brolly, Matthew O Connor, Mrs Brigid Broderick, Tom Fitzgerald, Hugh Hurley, Mary McCarthy, Theresa Downes, Julie Anne Dinneen, Philomena Mullins, Michael Ryan, Eileen O Donoghue and to all other Club Members who also suffered bereavements during the past year. Many thanks to former club player Fr. Sean Harmon of St. John's Cathedral for celebrating our Mass.The club Chairman Paddy Quilligan welcomed the large attendance to the A.G.M.Then our Club secretary Eamonn Phelan gave a detail report of the clubs activies on and off the field in 2011 the high light been the new developments ongoing in the club grounds in the year that the club celebrated its 125th year in Gaelic games and winning City Junior A hurling and Junior B football league titles other activies that the secretary touched on were the fundraising, Ladies and Club bar committees and thanked the imput and help of our primary and secondary schools were only for them our job would have been a lot harder, to coach and encouraged young Boy's and Girl's to play with the club, he thanked both Staff of St. Patrick's Boys School and St. John the Baptist for their help and cooperation throughout the year, also to Limerick G.A.A. for their coaches who help out in both primary schools to coach the young boys and Girls. A special work of thanks was given to Colm O Brien and Christopher Mortell who has put a lot of work in getting both schools and pupils back playing hurling, and also been involved with the very successful Club registration day and Cúl camp, thanks were also made to all those who help out with the many fundraising activies throughout 2011. Treasurer Jack Sheehan also gave a very good account of the club funds and spoke of the work been done by our club fundraising committee and appealed to all club members to have their club membership paid A.S.A.P. Chairman Paddy Quilligan in his address touched on the clubs great achievements that was made by all involved in the club on and off the field in 2011 and specially the year gone by he gave a special mention to the clubs 125th anniversary, Paddy also in his address thanked the very hard working underage committee for the amount of work in driving the club forward and also to the Girl's football team who did very well last year in winning they first every title at county level at under 14 level the chairman also thanked all the club players, managers, selectors, committee & subcommittees members for the hard work that was done in 2011 and he wish everyone in the club the very best for 2012. Other speakers on the night were Peter Sheehan and Christopher Mortell on the Clubs underage, Sean Maher spoke on the adult hurling and Kieran Dore spoke on the adult footballside of the club. Club President J.J.Kenneally and club vice Presidents Tim O Connor Snr, Vivian Cobbe also spoke on the night. The club would like to wish the best of health to two of St. Patrick's greats who are ill at the moment Brendan Tobin and Mick Rainsford.The following officers and committee members who were elected for 2012 on the night were President: J.J.Kenneally, Vice Presidents: Brendan Tobin, Tim O Connor Snr, Vivian Cobbe and Philip Doyle, Chairman: Paddy Quilligan, Vice Chairman: Peter Sheehan, Secretary: Eamonn Phelan, Asst. Eamonn Phelan, Children Officer: Diarmuid Murphy, Asst P.R.O. & School Liaison Officer: Christopher Mortell, Registrar & Irish Officer: Diarmuid Murphy and Committee members: Larry Cross, Laurence Cross, Mark Phelan, Thomas Downes, Michael McNamara, Barry O Doherty, Kieran Dore and Colm O Brien. Secretary Eamonn Phelan thanked all those who returned nomination and motions papers for the A.G.M It's that time again now for all playing members, adults and underage, supporters and former club members to pay your club membership and is once again its due with Family membership, Adults, Minor & Students and O.A.P. all available. Closing date for membership is March 31st and it is vital that all playing members of the club to pay their membership before the playing season starts. Please contact club secretary Eamonn Phelan or Club Treasurer Jack Sheehan as soon as you can to pay your membership for 2012. Training for our underage players Boy's & Girl's born in 2001 and 2002 will return to CBS Hall this Friday evening January 27th at 8.15pm also on Friday evening Boys & Girls born in 2005, 2004 and 2003 will return up in CBS Sexton Street Hall following the Christmas break our coaches will teach children the skills of hurling in a fun and enjoyable way. The underage training will continue every Friday evening under the control of coach Christopher Mortell and Colm O Brien at 7.30p.m and is a great way to introduce young children to the game of hurling in a fun way.
