Patrickswell GAA Notes
March 01, 2010
Well done to Ard Scoil Ris and their Patrickswell contingent, who earned a dramatic replay in the Harty Cup Final. The Limerick school played out a gutsy 1-12 to 1-12 draw against Thurles CBS in Nenagh. Best of luck in the re-match to the players and management. Patrickswell GAA hopes that everyone has a great evening at the Woodlands on Thursday 4th March, where Nob Nation and Free Beer will perform. A small number of tickets may be available at the door on the night - so you still have a chance to enjoy the entertainment.
Our senior hurlers hosted the Limerick Development Squad in a challenge game in Patrickswell. The county team emerged as winners by seven points, but it was a worthwhile practice match for both sides. Last Thursday saw the launch of the Michael O'Brien Senior Hurling Trophy in the Cu Chulainn. There were representatives from the competing clubs, the O'Brien family and Liam Lenihan, Limerick County Chairman. The first semi-final between Adare and Ballybrown will take place on Sunday 7th March at 12 noon in Patrickswell. The other semi-final pits the 'Well against Croom.
As the first Mackey draw is imminent, you are required to pay your outstanding subscriptions promptly. The Club Lotto is in excess of eu14,000 at the time of writing. Club members are asked to support the Lotto as often as they can. It is a vital source of income for the club's operation.
Well done to all involved with the club shop, which has been operating during the last three weekends. The shop has been selling tea, coffee and savouries at home games. Club members should try to support the shop as much as possible. Particular thanks are due to Noreen Dundon, Mary Higgins and Valerie Lynch for the buns and cakes supplied last Sunday morning. Congratulations to the Camogie club on the excellent turnout of underage players for the first training sessions last weekend. Twenty-four girls lined out last Saturday morning for Under 12 camogie training in brilliant sunshine at Parc Antoin O'Briain. Compliments to Gloria O'Donnell, Niamh Geoghegan and the team coaches for their excellent work. Let's keep it going, girls
