Féile Peil
Pallaskenry 1 - 1 Monaleen 4 - 9
Pallaskenry Under-14 footballers started their season on Sunday, 24th February, in the Feile Peil. They were drawn at home against last years All Ireland Finalists Monaleen. The match was moved to Kilcornan due to ongoing works on our field.
The matched start at frantic pace going from end to end. Monaleen got scoring quickly with a goal and a couple of points to settle them. Pallas were moving the ball quickly to the forward line where Ross Mann scored our first point. Our defence was under constant pressure playing against a stiff breeze. Dave Clarke and Cameron Fu Lynch playing well for us. Alan Ryan and Ross Mann were a constant threat for us. Chris Leahy was unlucky not to score a gaol when the ball broke around the square, however 5 minutes later he did force the ball to the net after a scramble. This kept us with in 2 points of Monaleen. Just coming up to half time Monaleen went on a scoring spree with a goal and 3 points without reply.
Half time 1 - 1 to 2 - 4.
As we turned around at half time the wind seemed to die down some what and we were under constant pressure. Darren O'Connell and Ross kept breaking forward to relieve the pressure however as the game went on Monaleen pulled away with 2 - 4 scored in space of 10 minutes. James Fitzgerald and Martin Neville kept defending strongly to keep Monaleen at bay as much as possible. In the end fitness told. We have a lot to work on over the coming weeks, but with the squad of players and more training we should be in for a good season. Best on the day were, Ross Mann, Dave Clarke, Alan Ryan and Cameron Fu Lynch.
