City GAA Board Notes

St. Patrick's and Mungret will join Patrickswell and Old Christians in the semi finals following their last weekend victory's in the quarter finals of this year's Bank of Ireland Insurance Investments City intermediate hurling championship. The semi finals will now take place on this Saturday evening in Cahirdavin. St. Patrick's City junior champions 2008 are now the surprise packet in this competition when they got over the City intermediate side Monaleen 2-17 to 4-05 last weekend in the quarter final at Rhebogue. Patrick Mullins ran riot at this game when he hit Monaleen for 1-15 for his side and the Castletroy men had no answer for St Patrick's full forward. St. Patrick's will now face another intermediate side Mungret in the semi final following Mungret's second attempt to defeat Kildimo by 1-17 to 0-17 in the quarter final replay at Cahirdavin. This meeting at 6.15pm on this Saturday will open the double header and then Old Christians and Patrickswell will continue the feast of hurling at 7.45pm.
The meeting of senior side Claughaun and intermediate side Na Piarsaigh in the Morrison's Bar and Lounge Ballinsimon Road City senior football final is a first for both club to meet in over twenty years in the final. Claughaun reached the final by defeating Monaleen in the semi final while Na Piarsaigh got over Milford and St. Patrick's to reach the final. The Cahirdavin side recently won the City intermediate football title on the way to this senior final. The final will take place on Thursday next 9th July in Rhebogue with a 7.30 throw in and the Jack Kirby Cup awaits the winners. On the same evening and across the road at Claughaun the final of the South Court Hotel Un.21 A football will take place with St. Nessan's (Crecora & Mungret) and St. Patrick's facing each other to try and win the Paddy Kenneally Cup throw in is at 7.30pm. With only a couple of weeks to go before the Patsy Nicholas Bar Gerald Griffin St. City junior A hurling championship starts and in the first round we will have Crecora facing Old Christians and Patrickswell will meet new comers Pallaskenry and Ballybrown will face holders St. Patrick's while Na Piarsaigh will have a bye. In the Horse & Hound City junior B hurling championship which will get underway in August the opening round will have Claughaun and Patrickswell, Kildimo will face Abbey Sarsfields Monaleen will take on Old Christians while Mungret will entertain Crecora. The board would like to wish the Limerick Senior football panel and management team the very best of luck on this Sunday in the Munster senior football championship final at Cork. The board would also wish the City divisional players involved on the senior panel Ger Collins (Milford) Eoin Hogan (Na Piarsaigh) Dermott Phelan and John Mullane (St. Patrick's) the very best. The next City G.A.A. Board meeting will take place on Monday next July 6th at 9pm at the Woodfield House Hotel Ennis Road Limerick.
