Ahane club notes

June 29, 2009
In the County Senior Hurling Champsionship replay, Ahane beat Bruree and will now play Adare in the next round. Ahane went into an early lead when a Sean Madden strike was mishandled by the Bruree keeper and the ball ended in the net. Ahane were denied a Conor Quirke goal when the referee deemed that, what appeared to be a perfect handpass from Brian Healy was thrown. Bruree led at half-time on a scoreline of 9 points (6 frees) to 1-4 (1 65). In the second half, Ahane's half-back line were dominant and a well-taken goal from Sean Madden gave Ahane a lead which they did not relinquish. Ahane held Bruree scoreless from play in the second half resulting in they scoring 2 points from a 65 and a free. The final score was Ahane 2.9, Bruree 11 points. One astonishing statistic was that, in the entire game, Ahane were awarded only one free inside the 65, that being in the last minute when Ollie Moran was fouled on the half-back line with the resultant free from where the ball landed. Club in 1974. She gave willingly of her time to several organisations in the Parish and was much loved and respected by all and this was reflected by the large turnout at both the removal and funeral Mass. We extend our sympathy to all her family and friends. All in Ahane would like to wish the best of luck to Cormac Joyce Power and the Limerick Football team in the Munster Final this Sunday. In the Under 16 Hurling Championship, Ahane lost to Deel Rangers on a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-14.
