McCarthy hopes to learn from defeat

Limerick hurling boss Liam McCarthy is hoping his side can learn from their defeat to Waterford at the weekend and emerge from this year's All-Ireland qualifiers.
The Treaty men were made to look ordinary during last Saturday's Munster semi-final replay against the Davy Fitzgerald's Deises, but McCarthy is confident his squad can get back to work on the training pitch and come good again this summer.
"It is not all going to happen over night and you have to start somewhere and two games under their belts will certainly help," said McCarthy.
"We tried fellas out and there are a lot of good young players coming up along in Limerick and they have to go through the ropes. It's not an excuse, but they will gain something from the games."
Limerick face a stern test away to Wexford in the qualifiers on July 11, where they must win two games to get out of the backdoor if they want to redeem themselves from the defeat to Waterford.
"Time is a healer and it is three weeks to the qualifiers so we just have to put the best foot forward and learn from the experience and remain positive and learn," added McCarthy.
