Quinn to retire?

February 16, 2001
There is strong speculation that Seamus Quinn's days in the Leitrim jersey have come to an end. The Gortletteragh man has apparently retired from the intercounty scene. If the rumours prove to be correct, his loss will be a major blow to Joe Reynold's bid to lead Leitrim to the Connacht championship this summer. One of the finest gaelic footballers Leitrim ever produced, Quinn won an All Star at full-back in 1994, the year of the county's memorable Connacht championship victory. Last October he was selected by Brian McEniff to represent Ireland against the Australians, thus becoming the first Leitrim player to receive international recognition. Leitrim can't afford to lose players of his calibre and supporters of the Connacth county will be keeping tehir fingers crossed that he has a change of heart.
