Breen frustrated by Mulligan surgery wait

Sligo's Eamonn O'Hara and Emlyn Mulligan of Leitrim during the Connacht SFC game at Markievicz Park.
Leitrim co-manager Barney Breen is annoyed Emlyn Mulligan's operation didn't take place sooner.

The Leitrim attacker is due to go under the knife to fix his knee problem next week and Breen was understandably peeved as he told The Leitrim Observer:

"The surgeon told him he could go back playing in the short term, although we're not going to use him because his fitness levels aren't great.

"He is going in for his operation on January 27th; he's definitely going to be out for the first two rounds of the national league now.

"We hoped to get him in earlier. This thing is a bone of contention with me.

"He got a scan early in December and we're only getting him in on January 27th.

"If he was playing for Dublin, Cork, Mayo possibly that would have been done. That's all part of the thing that we have to fight all the time.

"We're well used to it. We're not feeling sorry for ourselves."
