Leitrim hope to have three key men back on board for the national football league.

Tomas Beirne is in line for a recall to the squad while injured pair Emlyn Mulligan and Brian McDonald are also expected back sooner rather than later.

Beirne has opted out of the panel for a few weeks due to work commitments but attended the Mayo match last weekend and has been in regular contact with the team management. He should be invited back in within the next three weeks.

While it was widely reported last week that Mulligan would require knee surgery that could rule him out of the opening rounds of the league, joint-manager Barney Breen insists this is a worse case scenario and is keeping his fingers crossed.

And McDonald is still on crutches but could be ready to resume playing after missing just the FBD league and the opening round of the league. Tweet
