Breen happy with performance
January 12, 2012
Barney Breen was happy with Leitrim's performance against Mayo in the FBD league.
Though defeat was their lot against the Connacht champions at Ballyhaunis on Sunday, co-manager Breen says in the Leitrim Observer that his players did all that was asked of them:
"We asked for a good, gutsy performance and that's what we got. Overall, we're happy enough with our endeavour and hard work.
"We said before the game that in order to compete with any other county you have to be the hardest-working team in Ireland because we mightn't match the physical strength of other teams.
"It was a good start, even though the result didn't go our way. We looked for a performance and we're quite happy with the performance.
"We want a panel of players that want to play for Leitrim and that will give everything for Leitrim and we have that at the moment."
