SFC: Champions down Carrigallen
August 27, 2010
Glencar/Manorhamilton 1-10
Carrigallen 0-9
Glencar/Manorhamilton kept up their winning ways in the Leitrim senior football championship last Saturday when they saw off the challenge of Carrigallen.
The champions were pushed by the Cavan border outfit for the majority of this encounter, but in the end it was their experience allied with James Gilmartin's first-half goal which told all the difference between these two teams.
It was Gilmartin's goal that was the difference between the sides at half-time as well, as Glencar/Manor led by 1-3 to 0-5, with the superb Ciaran Flynn accounting for most of Carrigallen's scores during the opening half-hour.
The lead was stretched to three within two minutes of the restart, with Adrian Croal and James Glancy both splitting the uprights.
Glencar/Manor squandered some scoring chances after that and that allowed the town side back into proceedings as Flynn (2) and Eamon O'Malley drew the game level, but the holders took over from there on as Glancy, Croal and Adrian Hickey shot them to victory.
