Drumkeeran

IFC Round 3
We crashed to a very disappointing defeat in our last group game of
the Intermediate Championship on Saturday evening. Playing
championship favourites Aughawillan the team didn't do themselves or
all the training they have been doing any justice and were second best
from start to finish. Final scoreline: Drumkeerin 1-5, Aughawillan
1-11.
While disappointing we did enter the game knowing that a quarter
final birth was secure. Our opposition for that match on Sunday the
22nd of August in Drumshanbo at 7.15 became apparent on Sunday
afternoon after Ballinaglera defeated St Mary's to top their group.
Now in the last eight our performance must improve especially if we
intend on getting past our neighbours who have played exceptional
football to progress in the competition. The team have returned to
training and we wish them the best of luck over the next two weeks
ahead of the game.

JFC
Our Junior side will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing
defeat last Sunday week when they take on Annaduff in their final
group game of the Junior Football Champsionship. The team have the
qualities to win this game and progress to the quarter-final and we
wish them and the management the best of luck. Throw in at Pairc Sean
is at 2:30pm.

Under 14s
The Under 14s had a mixed week last week. On Monday night they were
unlucky in their defeat to Leitrim Gaels but they recovered last
Friday to record an impressive victory against neighbours Glenfarne.
The team are in action again this Friday away to Aughavas. Good luck
to the team and management.

Ladies football
The ladies finished their league campaign on a disappointing note
losing to Aughawillan away on Sunday afternoon. However a look back at
the league and having won five games and lost four it was a successful
campaign for the girls given that it was their first year back in
existence. They now prepare for the championship which begins on
September 4th.
Meanwhile the Under 12s are in action this Saturday evening when they
take on Dromahaire down in the field at 7pm. It is must win game for
the girls if they hope of reaching the A final, no doubt they have the
capabilties to do it. Good luck.

Quiz night
The first of the four quiz nights took place on Sunday night in the
Cosy Corner. Winners on the night were Joe Early, Eamon O'Grady Jnr
and John Joe Byrne. Thans to Clarke's Butchers who sponsored the
prizes for winners, the Cosy Corner for hosting the event and
sponsoring spot prizes and providing sandwiches. Eamon O'Grady also
sponsored a spot prize as well. Finally thanks to Gabriel Flynn who
acted as brilliant quizmaster on the night. The quiz returns on Sunday
night in Forde's please support.

Lotto
Lotto took place on Saturday night. Numbers drawn were 5, 6, 19 and
20. Unfortunately there was no winner of the jackpot. €20 winners were
John J Brady c/o Jimmy McNama, Leslie Rowlette, Dromahaire; Colin
Gilhooley, Carrick; Alan McGee, Tarmon; Shane and Ellen c/o Carmel
O'Grady. Lotto returns in two weeks. Thanks again for everyone for
their continued support and Seamus and Kevie for co-ordinating the
draw.

Underage blitz
Well done to all the players who took part in a blitz competition
organised by Ballintogher GFC on Saturday morning. Under 8s and Under
10s put in great performances and the future is definitely bright for
the future.

Family fun day
The family fun day took place in the field on Sunday afternoon. Great
weather greeted the day and despite a slow start a large amount of fun
was had by all of the children (and adults) who took part in the
events. Firstly thanks to everyone for attending. The day is ran by
the club for everyone to enjoy and hopefully that was the case.
A few people to mention: Gabriel Flynn and Ciaran White for
organising the entire day, the lads put in great work and deserve all
the plaudits. Thanks to Francis Davitt for cooking the burgers
provided kindly by Colm Clarke c/o Clarke's Butchers and Rory Duignan
who oversaw the shop. Thanks to Ethel McVeigh for paiting faces and
those players who hosted their events. A special word for the egg
throwing comeptition ran by Richard and Junior. This was undoubetdly
the most hotly contested and surely a keeper for years to come.
Thanks again to everyone.

Lotto Envelope Sponsors
The club is seeking sponsors for the next set of Lotto envelopes. If
anyone is interested can they please contact Francis Davitt or Seamus
Duignan.
