Moran reappointed in Leitrim

Leitrim manager Mickey Moran
Mickey Moran has been reappointed as Leitrim football manager for a third year.
However, his long-time assistant, John Morrison, has decided to part company and will pursue coaching interests elsewhere. Moran took charge of the Ridge County in late 2008, succeeding Dessie Dolan in the role, but he has yet to achieve a championship victory of note with Roscommon ending their Connacht SFC interests in each of the past two years.
And Leitrim remains the only county without a win in the 10 years of the All-Ireland qualifiers with Kildare defeating them this year.
Speaking in the wake of that loss last month, the Derry native made no secret of his desire to continue in the Leitrim hotseat.
"I hope that I am still involved next year, that is for others to decide," he said.
"In terms of results it doesn't look powerful for us but I know everybody, players and all, have improved individually and collectively and I think there is something there.
"I know it is for another day at this stage and I'll have to go back and have a think about it all myself but it is up to the Board and other people who have the power.
"I can honestly say that all of us, players and management, our consciences our clear, we've emptied the tank. Things didn't go for us and I don't think that scoreline (1-12 to 0-6) totally reflects the match."
Moran will also manage the Leitrim under 21 and junior sides in 2011.
