Tyrone bounced back from their Ulster championship disappointment with a comprehensive victory against Leitrim in Sunday's TG4 All-Ireland Ladies senior football championship round one qualifier at Shannon Gaels, Cavan.

The Red Hands, provincial champions in 2009, hammered the Westerners by 6-22 to 2-9 as cousins Lynda and Cathy Donnelly scored four goals between them.

Cathy scored a remarkable individual tally of 3-6 while Lynda netted in the 25th minute as Tyrone, beaten TG4 All-Ireland quarter-finalists last year, went on a real goal spree.

Tyrone lost to Armagh in the last series of round-robin matches in the Ulster championship and were anxious to atone for that disappointment as they faced into the All-Ireland series.

At half-time, Leitrim found themselves 1-4 to 4-12 in arrears as Cathy Donnelly hit two first half goals for Tyrone, with Linda Donnelly and Aisling O'Kane also raising green flags.

Two minutes into the second half, Cathy Donnelly completed her hat-trick of goals before O'Kane, who contributed 2-3 in total, scored her second goal in the 52nd minute.

Leitrim's top scorer on the day was Áine Tighe, who was superb during her county's successful Division 4 National League campaign.

Tighe, who scored 1-4, scored a 38th minute goal while Eimear McGlade hit Leitrim's first half goal in the 20th minute.

Scorers for Tyrone: C Donnelly 3-6, A O'Kane 2-3, G Begley 0-5, S Connolly 0-4, C McGahan 0-3, S Quinn 0-1.

Scorers for Leitrim: A Tighe 1-4, E McGlade 1-1, S Fowley, A Kelly, M Reynolds & E McManus 0-1 each.
