Leitrim captain John McKeon said he was "disgusted" after watching the team succumb to a 1-12 to 0-6 defeat to Kildare in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers last Saturday.

Mickey Moran's team had matched their favoured opponents throughout much of the encounter at Newbridge but fell apart in the closing quarter to let 1-4 by them which saw another season crumble by mid-July

"I'm disgusted," said McKeon afterwards.

"We put in a good effort in the first-half and we were still in it at half-time. We felt we were in with a great chance and if we came at them strong in the first ten minutes, you'd never know what might have happened.

"We didn't get any of the breaking-ball around midfield and we were getting it hard to get the ball past midfield. They had a lot of missed scoring opportunities but they took them in the end and that was the difference at the end of the day." Tweet
